Printing the Toy Theatre book by David Powell, JR Piggott and Horatio Blood

Beautifully illustrated book exploring the history of the English toy theatre of the nineteenth century and how it was printed and published. Technical intricacy is matched by stories of business rivalry, piracy and a will to survive.

The book draws from an exhibition that was presented by the Pollock's Toy Museum Trust at St Bride Library. Subjects covered include printing, marketing, hand-colouring, tinselling, and the production of playbooks.
